Someone started the idea that filing for bankruptcy affects a person’s chances to land a job. Some employers may look at a person’s credit report during the hiring process, but it is not a basis for landing the job or not. There are more important attributes that are considered. Keep in mind that all job applicants are treated equally regardless of their credit limit. Here are a few tips for getting a job by building trust.
Go back to school
In order to be considered for a better job, it is important to enrich one’s education and experience. Enrolling in college courses and gaining a first or new degree will give the job seeker more qualifications. This opens up the opportunity to apply for higher paying jobs and more responsibilities. There are also free classes, seminars, or community education courses that are provided by mentors in the profession, and they hand out official certificates that let the employers know that this person is definitely qualified to take on the job.
Volunteering and networking
In addition to enriching one’s education, those who are applying for a job will have a better change of getting employed if they have backup from their influential contacts. Volunteering with a group will give both experience and exposure for many people, whether they are job seekers or employers. A great example is the Habitat for Humanity. By getting to know more people in the community and focusing efforts toward something, the applicant will be trustworthy and feel good about him or herself during the interview. Aside from this, there would be a time when new job opportunities become available to the person after talking to his or her contacts.

Focus on your skills and develop your résumé
The résumé introduces the job applicant to the employer or future boss. If the work history, education, interests and accomplishments are detailed well, an employer will get the idea that this applicant is hardworking and trustworthy. The résumé mirrors the work ethic of the applicant, and provides a good presentation even if there is a credit report that states bankruptcy. When producing the résumé, make sure that is focuses on skills and positive attributes.
Give a reason for needing a job
If one is out of work, and he or she is looking for a job after filing bankruptcy, think of why the job is important, and work for it.
These are just a few ways to build trust in the community after declaring bankruptcy. Even if an employer looks at a credit report before hiring someone, building up skills, a solid network, and community involvement will outweigh a negative mark on a credit report. It is ultimately important for the job applicant to be trustworthy towards the employer.
